I’m here to help you just take a breath and pause. Now, a little about me..
I’m Heather Wilke, and I’m a licensed professional counselor in Ridgewood, NJ. I specialize in working with high-performing clients who’ve grown tired of being called the “strong one” when they’re really just feeling anxious, overwhelmed and burned out. It’s important to me that therapy with me is a place you don’t have to have it all together or figured out. My approach to therapy is warm, supportive and practical. Once we start talking and connecting, I’ll start working on tailoring specific strategies just for you, that work for you to feel less anxious, more in control, and with a steady path forward out of overwhelm and towards mental clarity and calm. I’ll always show up authentically to listen and see you with the goal that our sessions feels more like a warm conversation than something clinical and formal. While I will challenge and be directive with you if I think you need it, and use my experience to provide practical skills for you to use, I’ll also share a laugh with you when it’s needed or even show you a picture of my silly dog Ike. I’m not a TV version of a therapist who is going to stare at you awkwardly and ask “How does that make you feel?” (I’ve never once used that phrase in session). I want you to be at ease, knowing I’m relational, warm and honest. Forming a good, trusting relationship with you is my most important goal! That way I know we can work together effectively so I can guide you to manage anxiety, life transitions and stresses and break free from your emotional exhaustion.
